Death in Aisle One: Thornton Walmart Failed to Protect Its Customers

I like shopping at Walmart. I've shopped in the Walmart in Thornton Colorado where yet the latest evil killer opened fire on yet another group of innocent people.

But Walmart failed its customers. There's no good excuse for the Thornton Walmart leaving its shoppers at the mercy of a killer.

In this era of mass shootings, gang violence, jihadi attacks, domestic homicides, drug-related violence and more, Walmart could certainly see a shooting coming. Yet if early reports are true, Walmart did not even have an armed guard on duty at the time three shoppers were executed near the store entrance.

One of the great things about Walmart is that it's like a small city. But if you're going to operate a small city you have to foresee that a bad guy with a gun might show up. It seems like Walmart decided not to hire a Sheriff. Instead, it let the folks who make Walmart rich fend for themselves.

That's just wrong. From now on, unless I absolutely have to, I'm not shopping at Walmart or any other big store that doesn't have an armed guard. If they don't respect me enough to take reasonable steps to protect me, I'm not going to give them my hard-earned money.
